Rennes le Château at 4 km
A surprising visit in a village with its famous mysteries of which not the least is the fabulous Treasure found by Abbé Saunière in a XIX century.
Surprising also, the Sainte Marie Madeleine Church, the mysteries link to stories about Knights Templars, the Cathars and the Holly Grail.

Alet les Bains at 10 km

Carcassonne at 45 km
Twenty centuries of history have led to this well known gem being listed a World Heritage site. The medieval Cité is the largest fortified town in Europe still in existence. Its composed of two gigantic ramparts each flanked by 26 towers stretching over a lengths of almost 3 km. It is possible to visit most of the Cité, la Basilique Saint Nazaire, le Château Comtal, one full day is necessary to visit the Cité of Carcassonne. A walk around the Cité streets provides a moment of intense emotion.
CATHARISM
Catharism was a name to a Christian religious sect who didn't follow the Catholic Church. The Cathars lived in Languedoc from the XI century. They were exterminated during the Albigensian Crusade. The last known Cathar was executed in 1321, several Cathars castles are witness to there story. The nearest : Puilaurens Château (27 km) was built on a rocky spur at an altitude of 690 m. This Château was above all the ultimate citadel and unviolated refuge of the Cathars who lived in clandestine. Here you can walk in the footsteps of the Cathars in a beautiful breathtaking landscape.
